  • 1930 Society begins operations with a special committee appointed by the Public Service Association
  • 1938 Any member is allowed to move amendments to the committee’s proposals at the AGM Membership fluctuates because of the 2nd World War
  • 1945 Benevolent Compassionate Fund introduced
  • 1946 Dental benefit introduced. Staff complement rises to 5
  • 1952 Asian and Coloured Government employees admi????ed
  • 1957 Age limit for members joining PSMAS extended from 50 to 60 years Society staff rises to 29
  • 1967 Medicines and drugs benefit introduced at annual limit of 10pounds per beneficiary ESC (Electricity Supply Commission), now ZESA, joins PSMAS. PSMAS asked to resign from National Association of Medical Aid Societies for paying pathologists in full, and for negotiating with pathologists
  • 1978 Unsuccessful attempt to change the name of the Society at an AGM
  • 1979 Staff complement up to 50
  • 1980 Introduction of Medical Aid as a benefit for many employees at Independence sees membership rise to over 140 300
  • 1990s Bulawayo branch opens Primary Plan introduced. Premier Plan introduced PSMAS House refurbished to current state
  • 2000s Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo, Chinhoyi, Hwange, Bindura, Gwanda, Beitbridge and Chiredzi branches opened. Private sector and Individuals allowed to join PREMIER SERVICE MEDICAL AID SOCIETY comes into being
  • 2006 PSMI created and establishes clinics, Labs, Pharmacies, Hospitals, Dental centres and Rehab centres nationwide
  • 2010s PSMAS membership hits record levels. Interim Management Restructuring and rebranding
